Terms of Service
Last updated: April 20, 2026
Welcome to DegreeCalc ("DegreeCalc", "we", "our", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of degreecalc.com and the calculators, articles, and education-cost resources offered on the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and DegreeCalc. We may update them from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If the changes are material, we will highlight them on this page for at least 30 days.
2. Description of Service
DegreeCalc provides free, web-based calculators and educational resources covering college costs, student loans, scholarships, degree ROI, GPA tracking, loan repayment and forgiveness scenarios, major and career pathway comparisons, and related topics in U.S. higher-education finance. Tools draw on data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the Department of Education (ED.gov), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and published institutional disclosures. The Site is an informational resource and is not a loan servicer, lender, financial aid office, or enrollment counselor.
3. Not Financial, Legal, or Enrollment Advice
DegreeCalc is not a financial advisor, loan servicer, school, registered investment adviser, or enrollment counselor. Nothing on this Site constitutes financial, tax, legal, or enrollment advice. All content — including calculator results, articles, guides, and statistics — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.
Education finance decisions — accepting loans, choosing a major, negotiating financial aid, consolidating or refinancing, pursuing loan forgiveness, selecting a school, and similar — are highly dependent on your individual circumstances, your school's financial aid packages, and federal regulations that change over time. Before making any decision with financial or enrollment consequences, consult your school's financial aid office, a qualified advisor, or your loan servicer.
4. Calculator Accuracy and Limitations
DegreeCalc uses publicly available data from NCES, ED.gov, BLS, and institutional disclosures. However, calculator results are estimates, not determinations of actual cost, loan balance, income, or outcome. Results may differ from reality for reasons including but not limited to:
- Tuition, fees, and financial aid that change annually and vary by institution
- Interest rates on federal and private loans that change with federal policy and lender market conditions
- Wage and employment data that vary by geography, specialization, and individual ability
- Forgiveness program rules that are subject to legislative and regulatory change
- Individual circumstances not captured by the calculator's inputs
You are responsible for verifying any numbers against your financial aid award letter, your loan servicer's statements, or your school's published cost of attendance before relying on them. DegreeCalc makes no warranty that calculator results are complete, accurate, or current.
5. Permitted Use
You may use DegreeCalc only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the Site, its servers, or its infrastructure.
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically copy content from the Site without written permission.
- Use automated scripts to generate load or circumvent rate limiting.
- Reverse-engineer calculator logic or re-publish it as your own service.
- Use the Site to transmit malware, spam, or any harmful content.
- Misrepresent calculator results as official financial aid or loan determinations.
6. Intellectual Property

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DegreeCalc, its operators, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any right of another party.

12. Termination
We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, indemnities, and limitations of liability — will survive.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which DegreeCalc is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
14. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies posted on the Site, constitute the entire agreement between you and DegreeCalc regarding the Site and supersede all prior agreements.
